The beautiful children of the Wayuu people live amongst some of the most impoverished villages I have traveled to. They live unaware of their livelihood. They play, laugh, and greet with an endearing warmness. Yet, they compete with the mongrel dogs for extra food scraps. They survive harsh temperatures and unforgiving dessert climates. They shine as flowers in a dry place.
