Hyacinthine Macaw
The hyacinthine macaw is the world's largest parrot species. These massive macaws feed almost exclusively on the rock-hard fruit of tropical palm trees. In 2014, this species was taken off the endangered species list and was reclassified as vulnerable. Though these stunning birds are no longer trapped and hunted to the extent they once were, their numbers continue to decline due to habitat destruction; mainly for cattle pastures.
