Old craft, foul-smelling craft.
The life of a tanner is not an easy one. Not only is it considered to be one of the hardest and dirtiest professions, it is also incredible labor intensive. It's the heart of where it all began centuries ago, today it is carried out with environmental responsibility, all by-product of the tanning is reused, from the use of fertilizers, to the manufacture of gelatine. This is a stinking activity but with zero residues to river pollution. São Geraldo Tanning, Dores de Campos, Minas Geras, Brazil.
