Florida Manatee Scar
This photo shows a deep gouge from a boat propeller on a Florida Manatee's back. 90% of these marine mammals have boat blade scars on their bodies. This particular Manatee is doing well thanks to rehabilitation and conservation efforts. There used to be a few hundred of these gentle giants, but now their species has been relisted from endangered to threatened status. Educating the public and sanctuaries have allowed these animals to recover for future generations to enjoy.
