I was enthralled by the old city of Mdina, Malta's first capital city. The streets were narrow, but strategically designed. They bent and curved at certain lengths to prevent enemies abiilty of firing an arrow and fatally wounding a resident if they got inside. Cities today are far greater than this and airspace in the wake of drones is now the battlefield.
