Ayano-san lives in a mountain village with 35 living inhabitants and 150 life-size dolls that she has made over a dozen years. At 68 she is the village's youngest inhabitant. After living in Osaka for many years she returned to take care of her aging father. The dolls ("technically "scarecrows") are scattered throughout the village in life-like poses. There is even an elementary school populated with doll students and teachers.
