My wife and I and a couple of friends went on a 3 day, 2 night backpacking trip out in the Strawberry Mountains in Central Oregon for the 2017 Eclipse. We had never been to the area, so we decided to hike the whole loop around the mountain range. We setup camp on a ridge that was about 8,200 feet in elevation that overlooked the low lands below. That way we could also see the shadow as it approached. I had my camera setup and we got to experience something I will never forget. Truly amazing.
