Marines, assigned to MAP Plt., Regimental Combat Team 7, pray before departing Camp Leatherneck, Helmand province, Afghanistan. These Marines would recite Psalm 91 before every mission. I never experienced camaraderie like I did in the Corps and I doubt I ever will again. Shared adversity created strong bonds. Not wanting to interrupt this moment I held my camera close to my body and below my waist. I shot three frames without looking through the viewfinder.

I can only imagine how powerful this moment must have been for you Alejandro. I have never experienced this bond of camaraderie, where your life is the responsibility of those next to you — and I feel it in your photo. I love the way these men are standing together. I also applaud your approach in documenting this quiet moment, and not wanting to interrupt. Thank you for sharing.
