The Miniaturist
With Durga Puja festival around the corner, clay artists in the Kumartuli area of Kolkata are in a race against time to finish the idols of Goddess Durga. They will be then transported across the city to the carefully decorated pandals. These idols normally range between 15-20 feet. But this man here creates miniature idols about one & half feet tall. Like most of the clay artists in Kumartuli, he had learned the art from his father. He quietly works for long hours with his son in his studio.
