Murray Morgan Bridge
As a young man, I worked for many years at my father's machine shop near this location.
The Murray Morgan bridge is an iconic landmark saved from demolition by an impassioned plea from the citizens of the city of Tacoma. Over 100 years old, it represents Tacoma's efforts to save historical structures.
It is a unique design called vertical lift, constructed in 1913. The bridge was renamed the Murray Morgan bridge after the author of many well known books including Skid Road.
