    Under the intense heat of the sun, a double crested cormorant spreads its wings out to dry at Dyke Marsh, one of the largest remaining freshwater tidal wetlands in the Washington metropolitan area. These large waterbirds with small heads on long, kinked necks are experts at diving to catch small fish.
