I was born in Kentucky and raised on a dairy farm near Elizabethtown. Our family never had a camera and between the farm work and playing sports year round, I paid little attention to the natural beauty around me. On a recent visit to KY I took some time to focus on what I'd missed all those years before. I took this shot of a Painted Lady on a Mexican Sunflower at the Arboretum at Prit­chard Community Center in Elizabethtown, KY. Their beautiful gardens were brimming with butterflies.
