My mother has taught me by example that strength of character keeps you going. She has been widowed twice, but despite all obstacles she still has a zest for life. I hope to be the same if I live to 97! When I stayed with her recently, one night I was concerned she was still up when I had gone to bed almost an hour before. I went back downstairs to find her still doing this mind puzzle. She laughed and said “I’m coming soon – I must just finish this bit”!
