Fleeting
A sunset is fleeting. It grabs your full attention until you are forced to turn your back for a brief moment due to life's consuming distractions. Then it quietly sneaks beneath the horizon. In its place, with the heavy influence of the atmosphere and other external forces, it leaves behind various layers and shades of color. Delicate traces of its former self that it can't simply hide behind mountains. Much like childhood. I took this photo on a walk through Bend, Oregon.
