    These dark nebulae belong to a type of dusty clouds catalogued by the American astronomer Edward Emerson Barnard. These structures are in fact dense clouds of sub-micrometre-sized dust particles, coated with frozen carbon monoxide and nitrogen, blocking off light from whatever lies behind. Total exposure time for this image is 11,2 hours.
