Rocky Mountain Subalpine Summer Forest
"Rocky Mountain Subalpine Summer Forest, Rocky Mountain National Park, Larimer County, Colorado" -
The "Taiga," "Boreal Forest" or "Sub-Alpine Forest," in this case, is a biome that predominantly covers the harsh northern regions of North America, Asia and Europe. This life zone is the only one, aside from tundra, that can tolerate the extreme stress factors of subarctic winters. Along with the Arctic Tundra, the biome dominates the Alaskan, Canadian, Finnish, Swedish and Russian landscapes.
