The town of Appalachia decided to turn the railroad that left out of the old West Morland Coal Companies site into a park for everyone to enjoy. West Morland has been closed for some time now and they have been trying to clean up the area they left behind for about a decade now it seems. They paved the 2 or so miles and cleaned up the area really well. The trail ends up in the neighboring town of Big Stone Gap. You end up going through two tunnels and you follow the river the entire way.
