Leafy seadragons are one of the most distinctive animals that you can find in Australia and should be as well known as kangaroos, koalas and the platypus but being marine they just don't get the same exposure. Listed by the IUCN as near threatened these wonderful creatures are highly at risk from habitat destruction and rising seawater temperatures. This young adult was very shy and only allowed this one photo before turning away but I loved its positioning and its endearing shyness.
