It's hard to tell from a map how narrow highway 82 through Independence Pass (Colorado) becomes. The pass, near Aspen, a natural formation separating the continent and the east and west slopes of the Rocky Mountains, will close soon for the winter. Because of the 6% grade switchbacks, sometimes narrowing to one lane, pulling a trailer is highly discouraged.
