This the shot I captured after I convinced a park ranger to allow me and a friend inside the park before normal hours of operation, just to experience the awe of sunrise in the desert. As we were walking along I turned around and saw my friend’s silhouette against the rising sun and brightening sky and quickly took this shot. It never looks quite the same, but for everyone one of us the sunset means beginning a new fresh day. 3/16/2012, White Sands National Monument, 0628 hrs (Sunrise).
