Recently, scuba divers in Los Angeles were treated to a rare event. Thousands and thousands of market squid swam to the shallows in a massive mating aggregation. Here, several males lunge towards a female hoping to be the lucky suitor. I used color strobe gels and a slow shutter speed to enhance the feeling of the frenzied movement (and add more variety to my photo/video portfolio from the event).
