    "People come to Antarctica for the penguins, but they come back for the ice." This saying is so ubiquitous among repeat visitors to Antarctica that it seems almost trite. But it's absolutely true. Once you get past the amazement of up-close encounters with penguins and seals and whales, you will be captivated by the complex beauty of sea ice.
