The Lizard Orchid
The Lizard Orchid - Himantoglossum orchid. Its roots are represented by two tubercles, one big, one small. In the 18th century in France, it was recommended that ladies wear a dried orchid tuber of Himantoglossum as a talisman to protect them from amorous impulses. Whether this was to protect them from their own impulses or those of interested men is not entirely clear.
