Soon after sunset, I ventured into a sandy part of the Sonoran Desert, near Tucson, AZ. I free-hiked for a while, in the hopes of encountering some interesting reptiles. No luck, whatsoever with the herps, but I was fortunate enough to encounter this enormous Wolf Spider, in search of food. He/she wasn't too keen on sitting still for my camera, so it took some effort to snap this shot, while laying on the ground, getting covered in cactus spines.
