Plum Headed Parakeet
The Plum Headed Parakeet is a Parakeet endemic to the Indian Subcontinent. These birds are found in flocks. The males have a pinkish purple head and the females, a grey head. The Plum Headed Parakeet fly swiftly with twists and turns whick are accompanied by their “ toi” sort of distinctive calls. It is a gregarious and a noisy species with a range of raucous calls. I captured this bird in Gir National Park.
