    Ulrike, 28, on her way to cut up half a pig with her trainees. As one of the youngest female butchers in Germany, she quickly rose to the ranks of instructor. In Germany, butchery is still a male-dominated line of work, not least for the physical strength the job requires. However, with modern technologies facilitating the handling of meat, the industry is seeing a rise in female butchers.
