    Reported by:

During a herpetology night walk inside the Nariva Swamp reserve we chanced upon a rare sight up close - a bare-tailed wooly opposum. Sadly in Trinidad wild animals are hunted for meat (known as "wild meat") and so it is rare to see these creatures. Add to that the fact most are nocturnal means this was a sight some people never see. It was fascinating seeing something you usually only see in textbooks. We took our pictures and left it right where it was, hopefully safe from the illegal hunters.
