There is an extraordinary timeless quality to Myanmar's Irrawaddy River. When you observe a day in the life of the villagers along the riverbank today, very little might have changed from medieval times. They still do not have electricity or bathrooms, people are happy to bathe in the river and depend on the same river for all their water supply, the bullock carts and ox-ploughs and the villages of thatched homes raised on stills. Kids flying kites by the river side, such simple pleasures!
