Skaftafellsjökull glacier, one of the tongues of the Vatnajökull ice cap. Absolutely stunning to see an immense glacier up close. This part is hundreds of meters long and it's a bit creepy standing amidst something so powerful and vast. You rarely see it but continually hear strange sounds and movement of the ice breaking and cracking underneath and all around you. To understand the scale of Skaftafellsjökull, this photo was shot from about 250m high up.
