Return to Mesa Verde -- 57 Years Later
In August of 1960, my parents loaded the family into a station wagon for a sweltering trip across the country from Illinois to southwest Colorado, including a wide eyed eleven year old boy who became enthralled with exploring the mysterious cultural wonders of Mesa Verde and the Anasazi cliff dwelling ruins. I dreamed about it the rest of my life and resolved to return. In April of 2017, a retired man of 68 completed his resolution and returned. I became a wide eyed eleven year old boy again.
