This is a Brown Snake (Storeria dekayi) - full grown, this little guy is only about 12" long. this snake was aprox 6". The Brown Snake is common in Michigan but is very shy and typically hiding. 17 different species of snakes can be found in Michigan. Only 1, the Massasauga Rattlesnake, is venomous.
