    Reported by:

Cicada or Jhingur as we locally call are insects that can be heard during summers buzzing with their high pitched notes, sounds or songs into the jungle. Their abdomen is hollow which works as if a sound box. The anterior region of the abdomen has exoskeleton structures comprising membranes and ribs which is known as tymbal. By continuously vibrating these membranes the clicks resemble like high pitched notes, hence the sound.
