Exploring the sea to earn a living
In Zanzibar some women earn an income of US$17.00 a month from seaweed cultivation. The substances extracted from the seaweed are used in medicines, cosmetics and in the preservation of foods and beers. Their daily life being dictated by the tides of the sea. Matemwe village on the North-Eastern coast of Zanzibar.
