It's was hard for me to think of the beautiful Chilcotin views that we missed out on because of the devastating forest fires that were burning close by. The summer of 2017 saw incredible widespread destruction of wild areas but also personal and public properties (entire ranches, farmland, homes and cities were evacuated). The smoke was thick and smothering at times. Many of our trips were cancelled, roads were blocked but detours were found.
