On a wet and cold morning at San Juan Island, I passed a fox while hiking a ridge overlooking a beach near American Camp. The fox was very interested in a pair of dogs being walked by their owner below. So much so that he totally ignored me. After he watched the dogs for several minutes he rested in a bed of California poppies and turned his attention toward me as I photographed him. It was nice to pass a little time with him watching the ocean below on such a cold and lonely morning.
