Without a doubt a highlight of my 3 month US road trip in 2016, was White Sands National Monument in New Mexico. It was a strange experience walking on what looked to be snow, but air temperatures closer to 70 degrees. Also the “sand” isn’t really sand at all, but white silica. However what I will forever remember is the infinite range of colors the dunes attain at sunset. Every direction you turn new dream-like hues of color are presented, making it one of the most unique places I've ever been.
