When the cold winds blow, our Witch Hazel tree starts blooming. I've always admired the soft yellow strands that seem to erupt from the tree, reminding me of a cheerleader's pom-poms at a football game. One chilly day I grabbed my camera and headed outside. Stopping by the Witch Hazel tree, I focused on the strands and the center of it all. Once I saw the image on my computer screen I saw the red blossoms for the first time. What a lovely surprise! Thank you, macro lens!
