FLAMBEAUX
Fambeaux prepare to guide the Krewe of Proteus Mardi Gras Parade on New Orleans. Flambeaux traditionally were slaves and free men of color in New Orleans. The torches they carried were a necessity for night time parades on the city during the 1800's. The tradition is still revered even with modern city lighting.
