    The jail was abandoned after independence and became a historical site of India.It was built to confine and torture freedom fighters of India by British. Its is situated in portblair surrounded by little islands and Kalapani(Black water) of Indian ocean.There was no escape from here.Freedom fighters then struggled through inhumane pain in these beautiful island where as British enjoyed the luxury.
