After photographing sunrise in Venice one morning, we wearily (and in desperate need of caffeine) stumbled back to our hotel. We had somehow managed to get off the beaten track. I still remember the trancelike feeling we got at this spot realising we were nowhere near our hotel. Instead of panic, we felt awe. The warm glow of the early morning light illuminated the canal and gave it an almost cinematic quality. I remember thinking how lucky we were to see a new day come alive in Venice.
