Arriving late in the afternoon at Sossusvlei was a magical experience. There was literally no one there! As the wind started to pick up, the footprints from earlier that day had already faded away. This gave us a sense of being all alone in this world. You can 'hear' the silence and that is a wonderful experience. It makes you aware of being alive and enjoy it in that moment. Even the hot sand burning our feet and ankles could not ruin that moment. ;-)
