Mongolian Teens
Young boys waiting for a horse race to finish.
Most of the participants were friends or cousins of the boys in the photo. It felt like their lack of excitement was because they were probably not allowed to participate by their parents (esp mothers). There have been tragic cases of families losing all sons to a horse race which makes the parents very cautious before allowing their kids to participate.
I love the feeling behind this photo, I feel them waiting. I love their body language — it does not appear they are cheering for any competitors, which makes me wonder who these young boys in relationship to the race. I love that as (I assume) everyone else is watching the finish line, you are observing the moments on the edges of the action. Well done Atul.
