Feeding pigeons is a common practice in India, be it home or on the streets. In Hindu culture, everything is seen as of great significance whether its a tree, bird, animal, water (Varun devta) or air (Vayu devta) or feeding the needy and underprivileged. As mentioned in Vedas or scriptures. Flocks of pigeon gather on a regular basis at the feeding points as they know people would come to give them grains and other food. Containers of water are also kept beside for them to drink and have a bath.
