While walking in my area, you need to have your camera in the ready all the time. I live right next to a state park with many different types of wildlife including wood ducks. Just as I got my camera focused on this beautiful male, it saw me and took off. I barely got the entire duck in the frame as the speed in which he took off surprised me. Like I said, you have to be ready. :)
