This very sympathetic gentleman, lives in a locality called Vale do Pati, an environmental preservation area of the National Park of Chapada Diamantina, where one can only get to the foot or on the backs of mules. Mr. João owns a small inn that welcomes travelers from all over the world and uses the mules to bring groceries to their small markets and transport tourists who can not walk the long trail to the valley.
