Northern Norwegian Wooden Cathedral
"Northern Norwegian Wooden Cathedral, Tromsø Domkirke, Troms County, Norway"
Built in a Gothic Revival style, the Tromsø Cathedral is Norway's only wooden cathedral, and the current architecture dates to 1861. However, the first church on the site was commissioned by King Haakon IV (Håkon Håkonsson) in 1252, less than a century after the twilight of the Viking Age. At the time, it was the northernmost church in the world, and now remains as the world's northernmost Protestant cathedral.
