    "Y'know the thing about a shark, he's got... lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eyes. When he comes at ya, doesn't seem to be livin'" from Jaws (1975). And yet it never ceases to amaze me how inquisitive and expressive those dark eyes and toothy grin can be. As I stood in the cage in Isla Guadalupe, I'd often catch the sharks staring at us, following us with their gaze. This was the idea that drove me to take this portrait of a great white shark.
