    Reported by:

At the beginning of our South Island trip, one of the places we stopped was Lake Rotoiti. Having travelled all day, I was keen to jump into the crystal clear lake for a swim. A friend of my partner had txt him to say...Do not swim late in the lake. Stumped as to the reason why we took a walk along the wharf. Then as the light began to disappear, hundreds of eels suddenly appeared out of nowhere. I quickly understood why a dusk dip was not a good idea! [iPhone + Instagram filter]
