Early Morning at the Mercado
The best time to visit the Mercado is in the early morning. You would think all these people are shoppers, but they're actually vendors – who pour in from the countryside before anybody else to set up shop. On the left, a boy carrying textiles stares away as he counts money, and behind him, a man takes a pause while eating a piece of fruit. All these people are here to sell their wares, under the shadow of the Volcán de Agua (also known as Hunahpú by Maya), on this clear, sunny day in Guatemala.
