A pilgrimage to Alexanders Lake
Tajik lore has it that the Great Macedonian conqueror camped at this near inaccessible glacial lake in the worlds most mountanous nation, on his way to India. They say that this is where Bucephalus, Alexanders horse died.
I took a 8 hour drive on one of the Worlds Most Dangerous Roads just to get here. I got to the lake late at night, and could only make out a dark body of water near camp. The next morning, I woke up to this.
